Signs of Christmas in Guyana.

Raval's picture

Many countries have their traditions around Christmas time and so do we. Merry Christmas everyone.

Who could forget haveing to roll your pant leg up to go to the corner shop or finding eels and water snakes in the house or even the smell of Dettol, bleach and other disinfectants mixed with a bucket of water sitting by the door to wash your feet when you came home? Good times........yup good times.

I know to most ppl this looks like a disgusting, chaotic christmas with all the rains and floods....but for me.. it's the most beautiful picture ever..after all- it's home sweet home! -- And i can't wait to be there!

Re: Signs of Christmas in Guyana.

I'm not sure about you and your christmas man. I feel sorry for your experience but my experience is way better. I never spend christmas in Georgetown so that's probably why. I experienced christmas with great food such as pepperpot with homemade bread baked the night before, fruit cake, ginger beer, etc with smiling faces. And this is what I woke up to. I'd trade that for almost any other experience.

Yes, ofcourse I'm picking from the best of best experiences as not all christmas was like that but why hold memory of the bad ones?
