Guyana National Stadium

Guyana National Stadium - ProvidenceThe Guyana National Stadium at Providence, venue for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for CARIFESTA X, boasts a seating capacity of 15,000, a parking space for about 4000 vehicles, a high security zone, conference hall, administrative office, and VIP and Media Center.

The stadium is located on the East Bank of the Demerara River a few kilometers south of the capital, Georgetown. The stadium is ten minutes drive from Georgetown's city center and thirty minutes drive from Cheddi Jagan International Airport. It was designed by C.R. Narayana Rao (CRN Architects & Engineers)and constructed by Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Limited.

Guyana National Exhibition CenterThe Guyana National Exhibition Site, venue for the Craft Show and Trade fair, is located on the north eastern border of the capital Georgetown. The exhibition site serves as the venue of the annual GuyExpo Trade Fair. It is approximately five minutes drive from downtown Georgetown.

 

 

 

The National Park

The National Park (Georgetown)The National Park, venue for super concerts for CARIFESTA X, is a scenic and very popular recreational facility that spans over fifty seven acres of land. It is located to the north of the capital, Georgetown, approximately four minutes drive from downtown Georgetown. The "Seawalls" that protects the city from the Atlantic Ocean is a stone throw away to the north of the National Park.

The National Park was designed in honour of the visit of Queen Elizabeth II in 1965. It was originally intended as a site for a national stadium, but was later converted for recreational purposes.

Cliff Anderson Sports HallThe Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, venue for the Visual Arts Exhibition for CARIFESTA X, is a monumental tribute to the great Guyanese sportsman, Cliff Anderson. This facility which, prior to 1994, was called the National Sports Hall holds approximately 2500. In 1994 it was redesigned and remodel to hold indoor activities also several games and training session such as; hockey, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, boxing, weight lifting, karate, rugby, cricket and cultural activities.

The National LibraryThe National Library, venue for Book exhibitions and launching for CARIFESTA X, is located at 76-77 Main and Church Streets in Georetown. The National Librarys architecture features Victorian and Georgian designs which lend to its primary purpose as a library, in addition to its offerings of comfortable conference and reception rooms.

Umana Yana Georgetown

Umana YanaThe Umana Yana is a massive 55 ft. benab located at the northeastern end of High Street and Battery Road. It is constructed of all-indigenous materials by members of the Wai Wai tribe, one of the nine tribes of Guyana's indegenous peoples.

Umana Yana is an Amerindian word that means meeting place, and it literally serves as a meeting place for various activities and events. It was used during the hosting of the Non-aligned Foreign Ministers' Conference, held in Guyana in August 1972.

National Culture CenterThe National Cultural Centre is the premier auditorium for cultural presentations in Guyana. It is located on Homestretch Avenue, D’Urban Park, in Georgetown.

The National Culture Cultural Centre has a seating capacity of 2000 and is touted as the largest threatre of its type within the Caribbean. It offers a stage that is 72 feet wide, 48 feet deep and with an opening 20 feet high. The Cultural Centre was used during the hosting of CARIFESTA in 1972.

Buddy's International Hotel

The Buddy's International Hotel is located at Providence on the East
Bank of Demerara, to the north of the Guyana National Stadium at
Providence. This facility was used to provide accommodations for Teams,
Officials, Media and Sponsors of ICC CWC 2007, in addition to other
visitors. For CARIFESTA X, Buddy's International will host the
Caribbean Fashion Weekend.
